Working Principle

Based on the three-state changes of water, the sample is first frozen at a low temperature to make the water form ice crystals. Then, in a high-vacuum environment, the ice crystals are directly sublimated into water vapor by heating to remove most of the water. Finally, further heating and vacuum treatment are carried out to remove the residual adsorbed water.

Main Components

- Freezing System: It is responsible for quickly freezing the sample. There are two common types: compression refrigeration and liquid nitrogen refrigeration.

- Vacuum System: Composed of a vacuum pump and a vacuum gauge, it is used to maintain a high-vacuum environment and improve the efficiency and quality of freeze-drying.

- Heating System: Composed of a heating plate and a temperature sensor, it provides heat during the sublimation and desorption processes and precisely controls the temperature.

- Control System: It is mostly equipped with a microprocessor or a computer control system, which can operate and process data automatically, making it convenient for users to set parameters and monitor the process.
