What are the material characteristics of Hastelloy reactor? Hastelloy alloy reactors are widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical, rubber, pharmaceuticals, and food, to complete processes such as vulcanization, nitrification, hydrogenation, alkylation, polymerization, and condensation. They are ideal equipment for many industries.
It is based on the premise of participating in the full mixing of reactants. For Physical change such as heating, cooling, liquid extraction, and gas absorption, stirring devices are required to achieve good results.
The materials of the reaction kettle generally include carbon manganese steel, stainless steel, zirconium, Hastelloy alloy, and other composite materials. According to the manufacturing structure of the reaction kettle, it can be divided into three categories: open flat cover reaction kettle, open butt welded flange reaction kettle, and closed reaction kettle.
The Hastelloy reaction kettle is composed of a reaction vessel, agitator and transmission system, cooling device, safety device, heating furnace, etc. It can be customized according to user needs, with three types of pressure: low, medium, and high. Usually, the shaft seal is in the form of magnetic seal, and the mixing form can be diversified to meet different viscosities and speeds.
The reason why Hastelloy reactor is so widely used is closely related to its material characteristics. The characteristics are as follows:
1. The mechanical properties of Hastelloy alloy are very outstanding, with high strength and toughness, making it difficult to machine. Moreover, its strain hardening tendency is extremely strong, and when the deformation rate reaches 15%, it is about twice that of 18-8 stainless steel.
2. Hastelloy alloy also has a medium temperature sensitization zone, and its sensitization tendency increases with the increase of deformation rate. When the temperature is high, Hastelloy alloy is prone to absorbing harmful elements, resulting in a decrease in its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.
3. Excellent resistance to pitting, Crevice corrosion and stress corrosion. The high content of Mo and Cr makes the alloy resistant to chloride ion corrosion, and the W element further improves the corrosion resistance.
4. At the same time, Hastelloy C-276 alloy is one of the only materials resistant to humid chlorine, Hypochlorite and Chlorine dioxide solutions, and has significant corrosion resistance to high concentration chloride solutions such as Iron(III) chloride and Copper(II) chloride.
5. In both oxidation and reduction atmospheres, it exhibits excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media.
6. Suitable for various concentrations of sulfuric acid solutions, it is one of the few materials that can be applied to hot concentrated sulfuric acid solutions.
